KARNATAKA Assembly Election 2023: Yadgir is one of the 224 Legislative Assembly constituencies in the poll-bound state of Karnataka which comes under the Yadgir district and is a segment of the Raichur Lok Sabha seat.
Yadgir will go to the Assembly polls on May 10 along with 223 other constituencies of Karnataka. The counting of votes for the Karnataka Assembly election will be held on May 13, 2023. There are a total of 2,613 candidates in the poll fray for the state election. Out of 2,613 candidates in the poll fray, 2,427 are male, 184 females and 2 others.
Campaigning in Karnataka for the May 10 assembly polls is in full swing as Congress is seeking to wrest power from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). As far as the Yadgir constituency is concerned, Congress has its dominance in this seat but BJP had won the 2018 Assembly election. This year, there will be a close battle between the saffron party and Congress. While s JD(S) will also pose a challenge to the Grand Old Party.
Yadgir Assembly Election 2023:
For the upcoming Assembly election, the Congress fielded Channareddy Patil Tunnur, the BJP has given a ticket to Venkatreddy Mudnal who currently represents the Yadgir constituency and Janata Dal (Secular) has chosen Dr A B Maalakaraddy. While a new entrant, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) fielded Azharuddin Rana. This year, Yadgir will witness a Congress vs BJP vs JD(S).
Yadgir Assembly Election 2018:
In the 2018 Assembly election, BJP candidate Venkatreddy Mudnal won the seat against Dr A B Maalakaraddy who fought on a Congress ticket with a margin of 12881 votes (9.02 per cent of total valid votes). Mudnal got 62,227 votes and Maalakaraddy bagged 49,346 votes. While A C Kadloor, JD(S) candidate was the third runner up who received 25,774 votes.
Out of 2,35,682 registered electors, 1,44,611 voters turned out for the 2018 Yadgir Assembly election which included general voters, NRI voters, and service voters. Among the general voters, 73,099 were male and 70,657 were female. According to the Election Commission of India, the constituency witnessed a 61.36 per cent voter turnout.
