Addressing a rally in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday attacked the Congress party, accusing it of "corruption" in the poll-bound state and also said that the party which ruled the country for decades after Independence "worshipped one family".
Speaking at the event, PM Modi highlighted the efforts made by the BJP government at the central level to eliminate fake beneficiaries from government schemes, addressing issues related to corruption.
"The party that remained in power for decades after Independence, they did only one thing - worship of a family. The freedom did not come due to one family, the country's progress has not been achieved due to one family," he said.

PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the 'Veerangana Rani Durgavati Smarak aur Udyaan' and unveiled projects valued at over Rs 12,000 crore during his visit to Madhya Pradesh. The occasion marked the 500th birth centenary of Rani Durgavati, and the Prime Minister applauded the celebration of her legacy.
"If any country had a hero like Rani Durgavati they would have celebrated her glory throughout the world. The same should have happened after Independence. But after independence, our heroes, our great leaders were forgotten," the Prime Minister said.
"A few moments back we did the bhoomipujan of Rani Durgavati Smarak. Her life motivates us to work for one's birthplace. On the 500th birth centenary of Rani Durgavati, I would like to extend my warm regards to the tribal community, the entire Madhya Pradesh and the 140 crore citizens," he added.
PM Modi also highlighted impact of the projects inaugurated in Madhya Pradesh, emphasising their potential to transform lives, particularly for farmers and the youth in the state. These projects include infrastructure developments like water and gas pipelines, as well as a four-lane road network.
PM Modi's visit to Madhya Pradesh is in view of the preparations for upcoming state elections in five states, including Madhya Pradesh.
