BJP leader Narendra Modi will today be sworn in as the Prime Minister of India for a third consecutive term. The mega event will take place at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi. Over 8,000 people, including dignitaries from across the world, are expected to participate in the event. Several other MPs, who would be a part of Modi 3.0 cabinet, are also likely to take oath today.

The NDA allies on Saturday unanimously elected Narendra Modi as the leader of the coalition. Senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh proposed Modi’s name, which was approved by all the parties of NDA. Notably, the BJP failed to secure a majority on its own and it has to now rely on its allies, including JDU and TDP, to run the government. The saffron party's tally of 240 seats was 32 short of a majority in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the parliament. The NDA, however, amassed 292 seats. A list of 303 lawmakers, which includes independent contestants, has been handed over to the President.
