Several BJP leaders rebelled against the saffron party and parted ways to contest the Rajasthan assembly elections 2023 as independents prevailed against their former party’s official candidate.

Among these were BJP rebel Chandrabhan Singh Aakya who won the elections from Chittorgarh assembly seats after gaining 97,523 votes. The second position was held by Congress candidate Surendra Singh Jadawat while BJP’s Narpat Singh Rajvi came third in the race to secure a seat in the Rajasthan legislative assembly.

BJP candidate Narpat Singh Rajvi, the son-in-law of former CM and Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekahwat, is regarded as a towering name in the saffron party but the results of the assembly elections on Sunday may disrupt his dreams of playing a bigger role in the party politics.

Another BJP rebel, Ravindra Singh Bhati secured a seat in the Sheo constituency defeating Independent candidate Fateh Khan while BJP and Congress struggled to attract votes in the region.

Meanwhile, none of the rebel Congress candidates made any direct impact in the 2023 Rajasthan assembly elections.
