Telangana Polls: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday trained guns on Congress and the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), saying that appeasement politics, nepotism, and corruption are ingrained in the two parties' ideologies. During the poll campaign, PM Modi said everyone is in the mood for a change and Telangana has faith in the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).

"There are some factors common between the Congress and the BRS, which are nepotism, corruption, and appeasement politics. They lie in the DNA of both Congress and the BRS. Corruption blooms under theiver let a Backward Class person become the Chief Minister," PM Modi said as quoted by news agency ANI.

"There is a storm for a change in Telangana. The state has faith in the BJP. Everyone is in the mood for a change in Telangana. For the last nine years, there has been an 'anti-development' government. Now, it is the time to throw it out. You have to ensure that the 'lotus' blooms here in the state" he added.

Meanwhile, lauding the BJP-led NDA government at the centre, the prime minister said it is the NDA that caters to the rights of the Backward Class people and provides fair representation to them.

"It is the NDA that gave the country its first tribal Lok Sabha speaker, Bal Yogiji. We made Droupadi Murmu, who is a tribal woman, and president of the country. We selected Ram Nath Kovind, who is a BC leader, for the post of president. The NDA chose me, the country's first OBC Prime Minister, with the blessings of the countrymen. There are 27 OBC cabinet ministers, which is a record in itself," he said.

Responding to PM Modi's statement, Congress Telangana In-Charge Manikrao Thakare said, "PM Modi did not speak anything about the Kaleshwaram project, so it is clear, here BJP and BRS are fighting election together and every decision of BRS are being taken by BJP...BJP is trying to help BRS (to win the election) so that in 2024, they get help (from BRS)..."

Telangana Minister and BRS leader KT Rama Rao also responded to the statement made by PM Modi during the rally in Hyderabad and asked if he (PM Modi) wants the welfare of OBC then why he is against the caste census.

"If PM Modi wants the welfare of the OBC, then he should answer why he has not started the OBC Welfare Ministry yet. He also has to answer why he is against the OBC caste census... People will not trust such 'Jumla'... Last time, BJP won one seat out of 119, this time, they might not even get that..." he said.
