Congress on Tuesday announced that Revanth Reddy is ready to take the Chief Minister's position in Telangana. The swearing-in ceremony of new Telangana CM is scheduled to be held on December 7 in Hyderabad. Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal addressing a press conference said, "After considering the report of observers and after discussion with senior leaders, the Congress president has decided to go with Revanth Reddy as the leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in Telangana."
Congress will be forming the first non-BRS government in Telangana after the bifurcation of the state in 2014. Revanth Reddy was the frontrunner for the top post in the state after the party staged a stupendous victory in assembly elections by winning 64 seats in Telangana, upstaging the BRS.

He said the party had appointed four observers including Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, Deepa Dasmunshi, Ajoy Kumar and K J George, besides AICC general secretary in-charge Manikrao Thakre.
Shivakumar and Thakre were present as Venugopal announced the party high command's decision on Telangana.
He did not answer queries on how many ministers would be sworn in and whether there would be any deputy chief ministers.
Reddy on December 3 after the victorious results, thanked the people for reposing faith in the Congress.
"The people of Telangana have blessed us. Our leader Smt. Sonia Gandhi ji, Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge and Shri Rahul Gandhi ji expressed confidence in us and inspired us. Mrs. Priyanka Gandhi also campaigned vigorously in Telangana. I, on behalf of in-charge Manikrao Thackeray ji and the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee, thank the top leadership. Whenever the need has arisen, the people of Telangana have responded appropriately and helped us. We will take inspiration from the martyrs of Telangana movement and carry forward their dream" Revanth Reddy said.
