West Bengal, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh Live Election News: Citizens across different states of the country have started voting today, on April 19, for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The Lok Sabha Election 2024 for the 543 seats of the lower house will be held in seven phases, starting from April 19 to June 1. 

In the world’s largest-ever democratic exercise, over 900 million registered voters are eligible to use their constitutional right to shape the destiny of their leaders and the direction of the country. As many as 21 states will be covered in the first phase. Among the major states going for polls today are Bihar, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Uttarakhand. 

Out of the total 40 Lok Sabha constituencies of Bihar, four seats of the state including Gaya, Aurangabad, Jamui, and Nawada will go to polls in the initial phase today. In West Bengal, polling will be held in constituencies such as Coochbehar, Alipurduar, and Jalpaiguri. In Madhya Pradesh, voting will be held on six out of the 29 parliamentary seats including Balaghat, Chhindwara, Jabalpur, Mandla, Shahdol, and Sidhi.

Lok Sabha Election 2024: LIVE Updates From West Bengal, Bihar And Madhya Pradesh

3:30 PM: Madhya Pradesh records 53.40 per cent voter turnout till 3 pm.

3:40 PM: West Bengal records 66.34 per cent voter turnout till 3 pm.

3:50 PM: According to the Election Commission of India data updated till 3 pm, Bihar records a voter turnout of 39.73 per cent.

2:50 PM: MP Lok Sabha Voting LIVE: Jabalpur Presiding Officer Suspended For Sharing Pics From Polling Booth: Amid ongoing polling in Madhya Pradesh, a presiding officer in the Jabalpur Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh was suspended on Friday after he clicked photographs inside a polling booth and shared them on WhatsApp.


2:00 PM: Madhya Pradesh Lok Sabha Election Voting LIVE: MP records 45% of voter turnout till 1 pm. 

1:30 PM: West Bengal Lok Sabha Election 2024: Bengal Records over 50 per cent voter turnout till 3 pm.

1:00 PM: Bihar Lok Sabha Election 2024 Live: Jamui-Nawada Ahead Of Aurangabad-Gaya In Voter Turnout: Bihar Lok Sabha Election 2024 Live: Voting is ongoing on four seats of Bihar. The voter turnout till 11 am was reportedly recorded at 19.33% in Jamui, 17.65% in Nawada, 14.5% in Gaya and 15.04% in Aurangabad.

12:40 PM: West Bengal Voting LIVE Updates: Union Minister and BJP candidate Nisith Pramanik on Friday cast his vote In Cooch Behar. TMC has fielded Jagdish Chandra Barma Basunia and Congress has fielded Piya Roy Chowdhury from Cooch Behar Lok Sabha seat.

12:15 PM: West Bengal Phase 1 Voting LIVE: Congress Candidate From Cooch Behar Piya Roy Chowdhury cast her vote on Friday. The BJP has fielded Union Minister Nisith Pramanik against her. 

11:50 AM: According to the Election Commission, Madhya Pradesh records 30.46 per cent voter turnout till 11 am. 

11:45 AM: Bihar records 20.42 per cent voter turnout till 11 am.

11:30 AM: West Bengal records 33.56 per cent voter turnout till 11 am, according to the Election Commission of India. 

11:00 AM: MP Lok Sabha Election 2024 Live Voting News: 100 per cent voting took place in the Naxal-affected Duglai booth of Madhya Pradesh’s Balaghat district even before 10 am, as reported by Dainik Bhaskar. 

10:20 AM: West Bengal Voting LIVE News: Former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi Says ‘Primary Issues Are Clear’: Former Bihar chief minister and NDA candidate from Gaya Lok Sabha seat Jitan Ram Manjhi said, “Some primary issues are clear, North Bihar that is often battered by flood...South Bihar suffers drought; we want South Bihar to get permanent relief from drought and flood...Corridor of Budh and Vishnu should be built in Gaya.”

10:00 AM: West Bengal Voting Live News: TMC Candidate From Jalpaiguri Nirmal Chandra Roy Casts Vote In Jalpaiguri: TMC leader Nirmal Chandra Roy on Friday casted his vote from Jalpaiguri Lok Sabha constituency. After casting his vote, he said, "I will appeal to the people to cast their votes peacefully and maintain law and order.”

09:40 AM: West Bengal Records 15.09% Voting Till 9 AM Amid Reports Of Violence: Amid reports of violence from Chandamari Village in Cooch Behar, West Bengal has recorded 15.09% voting till 9 am, as per the Election Commission Data.

09:20 AM: Bihar Lok Sabha Election 2024 Live Voting News: Constable’s Rifle Stolen In Bihar’s Nawada: Amid ongoing polling for the first of Lok Sabha Election 2024 in Bihar’s Nawada, a case of rifle theft has emerged at a polling booth in Rajevigha village of Pakribarawan. The incident took place despite the presence of five security personnel accompanying the polling party. The polling booth was located nearly 200 meters away from a wedding procession that was halted nearby. The rifle belonging to Constable Uttam Kumar was reportedly stolen overnight.

8:15 AM: MP Lok Sabha Voting LIVE: About Chhindwara Constituency: Chhindwara is one of the key constituencies in Madhya Pradesh. Nakul Nath, son of Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath, is seeking a re-election from Chhindwara. Kamal Nath has held the seat since 1980, winning it nine times. In the 2019 elections, the BJP won 28 of the state's 29 seats, but it failed to win Chhindwara, as Nakul defeated the BJP's nominee by 37,536 votes to become the state's lone Congress MP.

8:00 AM: MP Lok Sabha Election 2024 Live Voting News: Kamal Nath Casts Vote In Chhindwara: Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath on Friday showed his inked finger after casting his vote in the first phase ofthe Lok Sabha Election 2024. After casting his vote, Kamal Nathn said, "I have full faith in the people of Chhindwara. They are the witness of the work we have done.”

7:00 AM: Voting for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 began at 7 am on Friday, April 19.

6:55 AM: With the commencement of voting for phase 1 of the Lok Sabha Election 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday urged the electors to cast their votes in record numbers. “The 2024 Lok Sabha elections commence today! As 102 seats across 21 States and UTs go to the polls, I urge all those voting in these seats to exercise their franchise in record numbers. I particularly call upon the young and first-time voters to vote in large numbers. After all, every vote counts and every voice matters!” PM Modi wrote on X. 

6:40 AM: As the voting for the first phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha election kicks off, all eyes are on the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) helmed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aiming for a resounding mandate. Meanwhile, the opposition INDIA bloc is determined to stage a comeback.
