West Bengal, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh Live Election News: Citizens across different states of the country have started voting today, on April 19, for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The Lok Sabha Election 2024 for the 543 seats of the lower house will be held in seven phases, starting from April 19 to June 1.
In the world’s largest-ever democratic exercise, over 900 million registered voters are eligible to use their constitutional right to shape the destiny of their leaders and the direction of the country. As many as 21 states will be covered in the first phase. Among the major states going for polls today are Bihar, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Uttarakhand.
Out of the total 40 Lok Sabha constituencies of Bihar, four seats of the state including Gaya, Aurangabad, Jamui, and Nawada will go to polls in the initial phase today. In West Bengal, polling will be held in constituencies such as Coochbehar, Alipurduar, and Jalpaiguri. In Madhya Pradesh, voting will be held on six out of the 29 parliamentary seats including Balaghat, Chhindwara, Jabalpur, Mandla, Shahdol, and Sidhi.

3:30 PM: Madhya Pradesh records 53.40 per cent voter turnout till 3 pm.
3:40 PM: West Bengal records 66.34 per cent voter turnout till 3 pm.
3:50 PM: According to the Election Commission of India data updated till 3 pm, Bihar records a voter turnout of 39.73 per cent.

1:00 PM: Bihar Lok Sabha Election 2024 Live: Jamui-Nawada Ahead Of Aurangabad-Gaya In Voter Turnout: Bihar Lok Sabha Election 2024 Live: Voting is ongoing on four seats of Bihar. The voter turnout till 11 am was reportedly recorded at 19.33% in Jamui, 17.65% in Nawada, 14.5% in Gaya and 15.04% in Aurangabad.

09:20 AM: Bihar Lok Sabha Election 2024 Live Voting News: Constable’s Rifle Stolen In Bihar’s Nawada: Amid ongoing polling for the first of Lok Sabha Election 2024 in Bihar’s Nawada, a case of rifle theft has emerged at a polling booth in Rajevigha village of Pakribarawan. The incident took place despite the presence of five security personnel accompanying the polling party. The polling booth was located nearly 200 meters away from a wedding procession that was halted nearby. The rifle belonging to Constable Uttam Kumar was reportedly stolen overnight.
