Although rare, it's a chilling reality. From The Conjuring 2 to Jaws and more, here's a glimpse at movies that tragically claimed lives among their audience members.

The Conjuring 2 (Prime Video)

In 1977, paranormal investigators Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren come out of a self-imposed sabbatical to travel to Enfield, a borough in north London. There, they meet Peggy Hodgson, an overwhelmed single mother of four who tells the couple that something evil is in her home. Ed and Lorraine believe her story when the youngest daughter starts to show signs of demonic possession. As the Warrens try to help the besieged girl, they become the next targets of the malicious spirit.

Incident: According to a report in The Independent, during a screening of the horror sequel ‘The Conjuring 2’, an Indian moviegoer suffered a fatal heart attack. The 65-year-old man, whose name was not disclosed, experienced chest pains and collapsed at Sri Balasubramaniar Cinema in Tiruvannamalai, a town situated in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, towards the end of the film.

The Creeping Unknown (Prime Video)

An astronaut returns to Earth after an experimental space flight afflicted by a strange fungus that transforms him into a murderous monster. After bullets and bombs fail to stop the creature, brilliant scientist Professor Quatermass becomes mankind's last hope of survival.

Incident: A nine-year-old boy reportedly suffered a ruptured artery and died during a screening in Illinois.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (Netflix)

Danger once again surrounds Bella (Kristen Stewart), as a string of mysterious killings terrorizes Seattle and a malicious vampire continues her infernal quest for revenge. Amid the tumult, Bella must choose between her love for Edward (Robert Pattinson) and her friendship with Jacob (Taylor Lautner), knowing that her decision may ignite the long-simmering feud between vampire and werewolf.

Incident: As reported by Looper, in the summer of 2010, in Wellington, New Zealand, a 3-year-old boy named Damian Anthony Smythe managed to enter a screening of ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’. When the lights came on at the end of the movie, he was discovered unresponsive, with an empty one-liter bottle of whiskey lying on the floor beside him.

Jaws (Prime Video)

When a young woman is killed by a shark while skinny-dipping near the New England tourist town of Amity Island, police chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) wants to close the beaches, but mayor Larry Vaughn (Murray Hamilton) overrules him, fearing that the loss of tourist revenue will cripple the town. Ichthyologist Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) and grizzled ship captain Quint (Robert Shaw) offer to help Brody capture the killer beast, and the trio engage in an epic battle of man vs. nature.

Incident: In September 9, 1975, a few months following the release of "Jaws," 45-year-old Elmer C. Sommerfield and his wife Marilyn attended a screening at Ford City Cinema in Chicago, IL. Approximately forty-five minutes into the movie, Sommerfield suffered a heart attack and collapsed.

Aliens (1986) - (Disney+)

After floating in space for 57 years, Lt. Ripley's (Sigourney Weaver) shuttle is found by a deep space salvage team. Upon arriving at LV-426, the marines find only one survivor, a nine year old girl named Newt (Carrie Henn). But even these battle-hardened marines with all the latest weaponry are no match for the hundreds of aliens that have invaded the colony.

Incident: According to Times Of India, following an all-night horror movie marathon, which included titles like "Blood," "Ghost," and "Atmakatha," M. Prabhakar stepped away to use the restroom. Upon his return, he let out a scream and collapsed in shock, tragically passing away shortly afterward.
