Aamir Khan recently opened up about the failure of his film Laal Singh Chaddha, expressing his emotional response and the lessons learned from its underperformance. Speaking at the ABP Ideas of India Summit 3.0, Aamir shared his perspective on the aftermath of the film's reception.

"It’s a film close to my heart," Aamir said, referring to Laal Singh Chaddha. "Advait, Kareena, and the whole cast and crew worked hard, and it didn’t do well. After a long time, my film didn’t work, so family and friends would come home to ask me, ‘If I’m okay?’ I realized that I’m getting a lot of love after a flop. That was the funny side of it."

Reflecting on the experience, Aamir emphasized the value of failure in understanding one's mistakes. "Failure teaches you what really has gone wrong," he explained. "It gives you an opportunity to understand what was your mistake in terms of communicating that story."

Aamir acknowledged the impact of the film's failure on him, saying, "I made so many mistakes in this film on so many levels. Thank God I made these mistakes in just one film. Emotionally, I’m hurt that the film has not worked; I’ve taken time to absorb the grief."

He also touched upon the role of social messages in films, noting that while audiences come for an interesting story, films can still convey important messages. "One can say (social message) through the film, and even if you don’t say anything, that’s also okay," he added.

Laal Singh Chaddha, released in 2022, is an official remake of Tom Hanks' 1994 feature Forrest Gump, directed by Advait Chandan. Despite featuring a star-studded cast including Kareena Kapoor and Naga Chaitanya, the film failed to make a mark at the box office, leading Aamir to take a break from acting.

Looking ahead, Aamir is currently producing Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao, which offers a comic take on two brides in rural India who accidentally get swapped during a train journey. He is also producing Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, featuring Shabana Azmi, Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Ali Fazal, and Abhimanyu Singh.
