Actress Maninee De gained prominence for portraying characters such as Pari Kapadia in Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin and Dr. Sonali Barwe in C.I.D. Her versatile acting talents have earned her roles in numerous TV serials and films. Notably, she portrayed Shagun in Laado 2 and was featured in the film Dalchini in 2023. Amid this, the actress has been consistently vocal about the obstacles she has faced throughout her career. In a recent instance, she courageously shared her story of enduring sexual abuse at the age of seven. She recently disclosed this experience during a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, describing it as profoundly devastating.
The actress also revealed that she waited many years before confiding in her parents about what had happened. During a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, she expressed, "I went through abuse as a kid. So vo thoda sa ek dark phase tha meri life ka. Mai apne hi demons ke saath fight kar rahi thi. (There was a bit of a dark phase in my life. I was fighting with my own demons.)" When asked if she informed her parents, Maninee replied, "Baad me bataya maine. Kaafi saal baad. (I shared it later. Many years later.)"
Describing the ordeal as profoundly distressing, Maninee De expressed, "Bahut mushkil tha, I am not going to deny. And I am not going to make it lighter by saying nahi, nahi. It is like a wound. Of course, I have done a lot of shadow work. Bahut healing process se guzri hu mai. Lekin kahi na kahi vo ek jo wound hota hai na usko bada waqt lagta hai bharne mein. And that is the reason I became a therapist ki jo mere saath hua vo kisi aur ke saath na ho aur agar unfortunately ho toh I should be there to heal that child. (I won't try to diminish its gravity by saying otherwise. It's like a wound. Of course, I've undergone a lot of healing processes. But that one wound, it takes a long time to heal. That's why I became a therapist – to ensure that what happened to me doesn't happen to anyone else, and if unfortunately it does, I'll be there to help heal that person.)"

Explaining how she coped with the situation, Maninee De shared, "I believe I sort of transformed, if I may put it in English terms. I began writing after reading books. I wrote poems. I engaged in play. I even had conversations with myself. I think that was my process of evolving. It was challenging, but I matured before my time. (I think wo mera evolve hone ka process tha. Mushkil tha lekin mai apne waqt se pehle badi ho gayi.)" The actress disclosed that the perpetrator of the assault was a close relative and that he had reached out to apologize five to six years ago.
