Shiny Doshi has made her name in the Hindi television industry since her debut in 2013 with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s show Saraswatichandra. She is known for her roles on TV shows, including Sarojini - Ek Nayi Pehal, Bahu Hamari Rajni Kant, Jamai Raja, Pandya Store and others. Shiny recently made a shocking revelation about her relationship with her late father. She opened up about the painful and complex relationship and trauma she experienced while growing up.
Shiny Doshi recently remembered her emotional journey and how her father abandoned her mother and brother when she was young. She was forced to work at an early age to support her family financially. But it wasn’t just the financial burden, it also came with verbal abuse from her father. In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Shiny shared, "My father used to call me a prostitute. My print shoots in Ahmedabad sometimes went on till 2 or 3 in the morning. My mother was always with me, I was just 16. But when we returned home, instead of asking if we were safe, he would throw accusations. He’d say, ‘You’re taking your daughter out at 3 a.m.? Are you pimping her out?’" Recalling how his words left lasting scars on her.
When asked whether she has been able to forgive his father, admitting, Shint said some things are too deep that they never get healed completely.
“These are knots in life that can’t be untied. I’ve taken them as life lessons, but even now, I sometimes feel very weak. I never had a father figure to back me up, to say, ‘I’m here for you,'" the actress added.
Shiny's father tragically passed away in 2019 during the Amarnath Yatra, a pilgrimage to a sacred Hindu shrine. At the time of his death, Shiny and her father had been estranged for two years, a painful reality that still haunts her. "There's a guilt that lingers," she revealed.
In the same interview, Shiny explained how she belongs to an orthodox family, which didn't understand her work culture and ended up calling her a prostitute in the initial days.
She stated, “After the show (Saraswatichandra) went on air, my relatives from Gujarat praised me. I come from a very orthodox background. There are a lot of people in my family who have called me a 'prostitute' for being an actress. They have a very orthodox mentality. After this show came, shayad kuch logon ke muh pe taale lage.”<
