Akshay Kumar, who featured in Bhool Bhulaiyaa in 2007, recently reacted to not being part of the franchise. He stated that he was removed from the sequel. After that, Kartik Aaryan became the lead in the sequels which also turned out to be blockbusters. The first part was released in theatres in 2007 and also starred Vidya Balan, Vidya Balan and Ameesha Patel in key roles. It had a net collection of Rs 49.11 crore.

During a chat with Pinkvilla, a fan shared that he did not watch Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and 3 as Akshay Kumar was not there in the films. Reacting to this, he said “Beta, mujhey nikaal diya tha. (I was removed) That's it.”

The fan further asked Akshay why he has cut down on doing comedy movies. Akshay added, “That's true. I've done less comedies. I've done a lot of social films, whether it's Sarfira (2024), Airlift (2016), Rustom (2016), Padman (2018), and Toilet (Ek Prem Katha, 2017). Because I wanted to do it. I'd done a lot of comedies in the past.”

He added, “Every person has a mindset at a particular time, what he wants to do. So I wanted to do that. But now, I've signed about 2-3 comedies which I'm filing, like Bhooth Bangla, Welcome (to the Jungle), and Housefull.”

In the same interview, he was also asked about Hera Pheri 3. He then said, “Even I am waiting to start Hera Pheri 3. I don't know, but if everything goes well, it will start this year. When we started Hera Pheri, we didn't know it would go ahead to become such a cult. Even when I saw the film, I didn't understand. Yes, it was funny, but none of us expected the characters of Babu Bhaiya, Raju, and Shyam to become a cult.”

Sky Force is slated to be released in theatres on January 24, 2025. The film stars Veer Pahariya, Sara Ali Khan, Nimrat Kaur and Bogumila Bubiak in key roles.
