Did you know Alia Bhatt was once criticized for not looking the part in 2 States? The actress, however, is one of Bollywood's most sought-after artists now. Arjun Kapoor recently spoke about how Imtiaz Ali's Highway altered her image in front of the public in one Friday.
Arjun Kapoor talked about his experience working with Alia Bhatt in Abhishek Varman's directorial in an interview with Mashable India. The actor revealed there was a lot of hate and contempt on social media when she was signed on to the 2014 romantic comedy-drama. Many believed that she didn't look South Indian enough to play the part.
Arjun Kapoor claimed that Alia Bhatt's first film, Student Of The Year, did not provide her with the necessary notoriety at that time to play a role that had already been established because people had read the book. As a result, many well-known names were thought to be more appropriate for the role.
Alia Bhatt, though, never voiced any complaints regarding the criticism. The Singham Again actor emphasized that she is the ideal illustration of how perseverance and focus can cause everything to come together. He went on to say that she auditioned for the part and did a photo shoot, allowing her work to do the talking.

The actor recalled in the same interview that Alia Bhatt was working on Highway and 2 States at the same time that he was filming Gunday and 2 States. He pointed out that the public's perception of her was drastically changed by the release of the 2014 film, Highway shortly before 2 States. Alia swiftly transformed from being questioned to being the best fit for the position.
