Alia Bhatt shared a touching memory about how her daughter Raha's name came to be. The moment of inspiration occurred at none other than Jr NTR's Hyderabad home. The two actors, who shared the screen in SS Rajamouli’s blockbuster RRR, have developed a close bond off-screen as well.
During a conversation with Jr NTR and filmmaker Karan Johar, Alia reminisced about a special evening when she and her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, first discussed potential names for their unborn baby. Alia, who was expecting at the time, attended a press meet in Hyderabad for Brahmastra alongside Jr NTR. After the event, the RRR star graciously invited Alia and Ranbir over for dinner, leading to a warm gathering on his terrace.
"Ranbir said, 'If it’s a girl, it’ll be Raha, and if it’s a boy, we’ll choose another name,’" Alia recalled. That’s when Jr NTR added his own emotional connection to the moment, saying, "I started praying, I wish it was Raha. And finally, there she is," with a laugh.

Both Alia and Jr NTR also spoke about how parenthood has transformed them. Jr NTR, who has a son named Abhay, reflected on how becoming a father made him look for roles that were creatively fulfilling enough to make time away from his child worthwhile. Alia echoed similar sentiments, explaining that motherhood had shifted her priorities and given her a new sense of responsibility. She noted that actors can often become self-absorbed, but after the birth of her daughter, she became more invested in someone else’s well-being.
Alia also mentioned how her upcoming film Jigra, set to release on October 11, came at just the right time. The film, which revolves around a sister protecting her brother at any cost, felt particularly resonant as she was navigating her newfound protectiveness as a mother. Directed by Vasan Bala, Jigra stars Alia Bhatt alongside Vedang Raina and Manoj Pahwa. The film is co-produced by Alia’s Eternal Sunshine Productions and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Alia Bhatt fans are eagerly awaiting her next releases, including Alpha, Love & War and Jee Le Zaraa.
