Actor Manoj Bajpayee is currently gearing up for his forthcoming highly-anticipated flick Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai. The movie will be released on OTT platform Zee5 on May 23. On Monday, makers unveiled the much-anticipated trailer of Bandaa in which Bajpayee is seen playing the role of a role who takes on a powerful Godman for a rape case of a minor girl.
Soon after the trailer went viral on social media, netizens speculated if the movie is based on the life of Asaram Bapu, who has been convicted of raping a Surat-based woman at an ashram in Gujarat in 2013.

Now, according to a new update, Asaram Bapu has sued the makers of Bandaa through his charitable trust. The Godman asked the courts to issue prohibitory orders against the promotion and release of the film.
According to Times Of India, Bapu's lawyer stated that the movie is defamatory towards their client and can tarnish his reputation, adding that it may hit the sentiments of his devotees and followers.
Film's producer Asif Shaikh of Practical Productions has also reacted to the legal notice. He told TOI, "Yes, we have got the notice and our lawyers will decide the next move. We have made a biopic on PC Solanki and I had bought the rights from him to make this film. Now, if someone is saying that the film is based on them, they can think whatever they can and we can't stop that. Only the film will be able to tell the truth, when it comes out."
