Actor Asif Ali has responded to the controversy surrounding his alleged snubbing by musician Ramesh Narayan, citing his decision to speak up against the hate campaign targeting the former. Asif attributed Narayan's reaction to personal issues he was facing during the incident. He clarified that discussions about the incident being religiously motivated were baseless, describing it as a misunderstanding that occurred while he was battling a high fever.
Asif mentioned he only became aware of the online discussions recently and has since spoken to Ramesh Narayan to clear up any misunderstandings. "It came to a point where it was discussed on the basis of religion. There is nothing like that. It was a misunderstanding he (Ramesh Narayan) had at that moment. I had high fever and I noticed online that it had become a discussion only yesterday afternoon. I spoke to him today morning. I was confused about what to say on it," he said.
"Whatever I say about it should not go in any other direction. When I spoke, his voice was trembling and that made me really sad. Considering his seniority or his age, he should not have apologised to me. But it was taken to that level. I honestly did not want to give opinions or discuss about it. I am talking because of the hate campaign that’s being directed at him and what he is going through now. Firstly, they forgot to call him and later his name was called wrongly. He might have felt the tension that any human might have felt at that moment," the actor added.

Asif further stresses, "His leg had an issue so he couldn’t come on stage when I was giving the memento. He was going through a lot at that time and reacted in a way any human would. But when it comes out through a camera angle, I think it felt too evidently. I, 100 per cent, did not feel sad or upset about it and have no complaints. He might have reacted like that because of something that was concerning him. You could have understood it from my reaction. I had done what I had to do."
For the unversed, Ramesh Narayan received significant criticism initially for reportedly declining an award from actor Asif Ali at the 'Manorathangal' trailer event. Later, he clarified that he never intended to snub Asif Ali.
