Baby John vs Pushpa 2 Box Office Collection: Varun Dhawan’s much-awaited action drama Baby John opened to lukewarm numbers at the box office on Christmas Day. Despite the festive season offering a significant boost to ticket sales, the film managed to collect only Rs 12.50 crore on its opening day, according to reports from Sacnilk.

The expectations for Baby John were high, with predictions estimating a Rs 13 crore opening. However, the film fell short, facing tough competition from Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule and other Christmas releases. Even in its third week, Pushpa 2: The Rule remains a powerhouse at the box office. The film raked in an impressive Rs 19.75 crore on its 21st day, outperforming new releases like Baby John. Directed by Sukumar and starring Allu Arjun, Pushpa 2 has captured audiences with its engaging storyline and stellar performances. It is well on its way to becoming one of the highest-grossing films of all time.

Adding to the competition was the Kannada action thriller Max, starring Kichcha Sudeep. The film opened with a remarkable Rs 8.70 crore as per a report by Sacnilk, marking the highest opening for a Kannada film in 2024. With positive word of mouth, Max is poised for a strong extended weekend, further challenging the collections of Baby John.

This marks Varun Dhawan’s return to the big screen after his web series Citadel: Honey Bunny, which premiered in October. Despite the slow start, the film's performance over the weekend will be crucial in determining its overall success. Christmas Day at the box office turned out to be a mixed bag for Bollywood. While Baby John had a modest start, the dominance of Pushpa 2 and the unexpected success of Max highlight the competitive landscape.
