The teaser for Sudhanshu Rai's sci-fi supernatural thriller BAIDA has been released, blending sci-fi and ancient Indian beliefs. The adrenaline-packed 1-minute-42-second teaser begins with a Bhagavad Gita shloka emphasizing the soul's immortality, before showing the lead protagonist, played by Rai, venturing into a dark world and falling prey to the devil.

The teaser provides a glimpse into the film's mystical world, showcasing a man playing a Sarangi by a bonfire, cautioning about the mysteries that lie ahead in the forest. As the teaser progresses, it reveals a forest shrouded in mystery, with tall trees engulfed in fog, prisoners shackled by British sepoys, and huts that transcend the ordinary. The visuals promise a captivating cinematic experience, with actors like Hiten Tejwani and Sourabh Raaj Jain portraying characters unlike any of their previous appearances. Sudhanshu Rai, the creator of the story, has meticulously utilised his strengths, particularly his voice, in narrating a shloka that sets the tone for the film.
BAIDA also marks the on-screen debut of Sudhanshu's creation, Doctor Shekhawat, played by Tarun Khanna, which has gained immense popularity in modern contemporary fiction. The teaser's release on YouTube by Panorama Studios sparked a flurry of reactions from netizens, with comments ranging from "The music got me hooked" to "Wow! Finally some Stranger Things & Dark on Indian screen." Some viewers also drew parallels with other films, asking, "Why is it giving me Tumbadd and Kantara vibes?"
The film's director, Puneet Sharma, expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming response to the teaser, stating, "BAIDA is an ensemble of an intriguing and engaging storyline, dotted with powerful characters that would leave an indelible mark on the cine-goers." He assured that the film would be a rollercoaster ride, surprising audiences and leaving a lasting impression. With its release slated for March 21, BAIDA is poised to captivate the audience across all age groups.
The makers revealed that BAIDA is based on one of Sudhanshu Rai's most popular stories. A significant portion of the film was shot in India's Hindi Heartland, specifically near Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. The film boasts an impressive cast, including Sudhanshu, Shobhit Sujay, Manisha Rai, Hiten Tejwani, Tarun Khanna, Akhlaq Ahmad Azad, and Sourabh Raaj Jain. Clelia Angelon serves as the co-producer, while Panorama Studios is distributing the film.
