Barbie hit the theatres on July 21, 2023, alongside Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Greta Gerwig’s film outperformed all of its rivals by a wide margin in addition to performing incredibly well. It smashed box office records and broke countless others. Not only this, Greta also established the record for a female director's largest debut.

Barbie reportedly made $155 million in the first weekend of sales in the US. The total collection of Barbie, so far, stands at $337M, more than double the estimates.

It is thriving even in the Indian market. Even though Oppenheimer appears to be the more dominant force, the tables have turned, and Barbie still managed to walk away with a whooping 18.25 crores.

According to reports, the film would premiere on the OTT platform 50 days after its theatrical debut. Additionally, it appears that the film Barbie will debut on one of the two major OTT services, Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, in September 2023.
