Barroz 3D Trailer: The much-anticipated trailer of Barroz: Guardian of D'Gama's Treasure is finally here! Marking superstar Mohanlal’s debut as a director, this Malayalam film is touted to be one of the most ambitious projects in the industry. The trailer launch event was made even more special with Bollywood star Akshay Kumar gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest. Mohanlal also unveiled a coffee table book at the event, introducing Akshay Kumar to the mesmerizing world of Barroz.
The film, which has been in production since 2021, is set for a grand theatrical release on December 27. It will be available in 3D across multiple languages, including Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada.
The trailer takes viewers on a magical journey filled with stunning 3D visuals. The story intertwines the past and present, with themes of friendship, loyalty, and the quest to break an ancient curse. At its heart is Barroz, the guardian of Vasco da Gama’s treasure, who vows to protect it until the true descendant of Gama claims it.

Shot entirely in 3D, the visuals have garnered praise for their cinematic quality, with fans comparing them to Hollywood productions. Santosh Sivan’s cinematography adds to the film's grandeur, making it a visual extravaganza.
Alongside Mohanlal, the cast includes Mayo Rao West and June Vig. The screenplay is based on Jijo Punnoose’s novel Barroz: Guardian of D'Gama's Treasure. Initially, Jijo was attached as the writer-director, but Mohanlal and TK Rajeev Kumar revised the script during the pandemic, leading to Jijo exiting the project. The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Aashirvad Cinemas, in association with Pen Studios.
Fans have been quick to shower praise on the trailer. A comment read, “Will watch it for Mohanlal. He is always trying original subjects and pushing for new things after so many years.” Another fan remarked, “For the first time, frame break visuals in India. Shot entirely in 3D, kudos to Mohanlal!” Many have expressed excitement over the film’s Hollywood-like production values and eagerly await the release.
