Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, also known as Veer Savarkar, was an Indian politician, activist, and writer who played a significant role in the country's struggle for independence. Randeep Hooda's upcoming movie 'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar' is set to provide a bold account of the leader's life during India's struggle for independence. He developed the Hindu nationalist political ideology of Hindutva while confined at Ratnagiri in 1922 and was a leading figure in the Hindu Mahasabha. 1. Kaalapani (1996):

Directed by Priyadarshan, this Malayalam epic historical drama focuses on the lives of Indian independence activists incarcerated in the Cellular Jail in Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the British Raj. Annu Kapoor portrays the role of Savarkar in this film, which is now regarded as a classic in Malayalam cinema.

2. Veer Savarkar (2001):

Directed by Sudhir Phadke and Ved Rahi, this Hindi-language biopic film is based on the life of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. Released in 2001, the film was premiered in several Indian cities and is known for being the first movie in the world financed by public donations. Shailendra Gaur portrays the role of Savarkar in this film.
