Bhool Chuk Maaf OTT Release: On May 9, 2025, Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi's Bhool Chuk Maaf was scheduled to hit theatres. However, the production company cancelled the movie's theatrical release, earlier this week due to the growing tensions between India and Pakistan.
Bhool Chuk Maaf will now be available on Amazon Prime on May 16, 2025, according to a formal notice released by Maddock Films. The multiplex chain PVR Inox, however, was not pleased with this and sent Maddock Films a legal notice.
PVR Inox Sues Maddock Films
PVR Inox has chosen to sue the production company for damages, according to a Bollywood Hungama report, and the Bombay High Court has blocked the movie's over-the-top (OTT) release until the matter is resolved.
PVR made this dramatic move in response to the Rs 60 crore they lost when the Bhool Chuk Maaf's theatre distribution was cancelled, plus the movie's promotional expenses. In addition, the multiplex chain claimed that 'poor advance booking' was the reason behind the decision rather than the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
The theatre chain further contended that this was a blatant violation of the contract they had signed on May 6, 2025, with the production company. Additionally, they said that 31 PVR theatres in Delhi had already started making promotional efforts for the movie weeks beforehand.
The Bombay High Court gave the theater behemoth ad-interim relief, prohibiting the production company and its partners from releasing Bhool Chuk Maaf on any platform, including over-the-top, until the eight-week holdback period that follows the film's theatrical debut in India has ended.

While we were eagerly looking forward to celebrating the film with you in theatres, the spirit of the nation comes first. Jai Hind," read the statement.
