Bigg Boss 17 winner and comedian Munawar Faruqui was forced to rush back to Mumbai from Delhi after receiving death threats during his visit to the Entertainers Cricket League 2024. The Delhi Police acted swiftly to protect him after receiving intelligence about a potential danger to his life. The threats were linked to an ongoing investigation into a shooting incident in the Greater Kailash-I area.
Faruqui had been staying at The Suryaa Hotel in south Delhi and was attending a cricket match at the IGI Indoor Stadium. Security measures were increased at both locations following the threat. The comedian later left for Mumbai, and authorities are continuing to investigate the situation.
The incident began on Sunday when police received information suggesting that Munawar Faruqui could be a potential target. This led to a swift operation, with officers securing both the stadium and the hotel. Faruqui was reportedly staying in close proximity to where suspects had previously conducted reconnaissance at the hotel.

The threat surfaced during an ongoing probe into the murder of businessman Nadir Shah, who was shot in Greater Kailash-I just days earlier. While the original target of the suspects was not immediately clear, further investigation revealed that Faruqui may have been at risk.
As the situation unfolded, police intensified security at both The Suryaa Hotel and the IGI Indoor Stadium, where Faruqui and other public figures, including YouTuber Elvish Yadav, were present for the cricket league. Officers, including plainclothes security personnel, were stationed throughout the hotel and closely monitored the premises.

Chaos erupted at the IGI Stadium as police worked to evacuate the venue, with videos circulating on social media showing concerned fans leaving the scene. The heightened threat level prompted authorities to take the matter seriously, ultimately advising Faruqui to leave the city. Initially, Faruqui was hesitant to draw attention to the situation. However, he later decided to return to Mumbai, explaining that he had to catch a flight. Due to security concerns, he refrained from providing further details about the situation.
