Salman Khan's Bigg Boss 18 has been making headlines ever since its premiere. The show, which has been on air for a week, introduced an interesting lineup of contestants, including actors like Vivian Dsena, Chaahat Pandey, Shehzada Dhami, Avinash Mishra, Chum Darang and Shilpa Shirodkar. However, one contestant who drew unexpected attention was a donkey named Gadhraj, brought into the house by the show's makers as part of a twist.
While some viewers found the inclusion of Gadhraj amusing, it sparked major controversy among animal rights groups and viewers concerned about the ethical treatment of animals. The criticism came pouring in, with many questioning the decision to use an animal for entertainment purposes on a reality TV show. The prominent animal rights organization PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) was one of the groups that took issue with this move, slamming the makers for risking an animal's well-being for the sake of entertainment.
PETA wasted no time in voicing their concerns and took to social media to raise awareness about Gadhraj's involvement in Bigg Boss 18. In their posts, they urged the makers to remove the donkey from the house, citing animal cruelty and the potential dangers of keeping an animal in such an environment. The pressure from PETA and concerned viewers led to swift action from the show’s creators.

PETA's post read, "We are pleased to inform you that the Bigg Boss team has updated us with the news that they have released the donkey. This success is a direct result of the collective efforts of everyone who supported and joined this cause."
In addition to this announcement, PETA also extended their gratitude to Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, Chairperson of People for Animals (PFA), for her intervention. PETA’s statement acknowledged Gandhi’s role in the success, as well as the entire community who stood up for Gadhraj’s release. The hashtag #RescueSuccess was widely used in celebration of the donkey’s freedom, with PETA’s followers expressing their joy and relief in the comments.
