Bipasha Basu Breaks Down, Reveals Her Daughter Devi's Battle With Two Holes In Heart | Watch

Bipasha Basu's Shocking Revelation About Daughter's Heart Condition: Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover became parents to a baby girl on November 12, 2022, whom they named Devi Basu Singh Grover. However, it was not publicly known that Devi was born with a ventricular septal defect (VSD), with two holes in her heart. In a recent Instagram Live chat with actress Neha Dhupia, Bipasha emotionally shared that her daughter underwent surgery to address the condition when she was around three months old.

Bipasha Basu opened up about her unique journey of motherhood, stating that it has been far from the usual experience of most parents. She revealed that shortly after giving birth, on the third day, they discovered that their baby, Devi, had two holes in her heart. Bipasha acknowledged that it was a challenging time for her, and she decided to share her story because she believes it can offer support to other mothers who may be going through similar situations.

She said, "Our journey has been very different from any normal mother-father, it has been a lot tougher than the smile that I have on my face right now. I would not wish this to happen to any mother. For a new mother, when you get to know that... I got to know on the third day of me having a baby that our baby is born with two holes in her heart. I thought I'll not share this, but I'm sharing this because I feel that there are a lot of mothers, who helped me in this journey, and it was very difficult to find those mothers..."

She added, "We didn't even understand what a VSD is. It is ventricular septal defect... We went through a crazy period. We didn't discuss this with our family, we both were in a little bit of a blur. We wanted to celebrate but we were a little numb, me and Karan. The first five months have been very difficult for us. But Devi has been fabulous from day one. We were told that every month, we have to do a scan to know if it's healing on its own. But the kind of large hole that she had, we were told that it was doubtful, you will have to go through surgery. And the surgery is best done, when the child is three-months-old."

Bipasha became emotional and shared her feelings, saying that she felt an overwhelming mix of sadness, burden, and conflict when faced with the decision to have her child undergo open-heart surgery. As a believer, she initially hoped for natural healing and tried to manifest it with her thoughts, but as the months passed, the condition remained unchanged.

When they reached the third month, Bipasha had already researched, consulted with surgeons, visited hospitals, and spoken to doctors. While she was prepared for the surgery, Karan was still apprehensive. However, they made the tough decision to have their child undergo the operation, ensuring it was done at the right place and time. Devi successfully underwent the surgery and is now doing well.

Bipasha shared that the surgery took place when Devi was three months old and lasted for six hours. During that time, Bipasha felt like her life had come to a standstill while her daughter was in the operation theatre. The anxiety and tension were immense, but she felt immense relief when the surgery turned out to be successful. Now, as Bipasha happily informed, Devi is doing well and is in good health.
