BLACKPINK Jennie Plagiarism Controversy: A new song's teaser was just released by K-pop sensation Jennie, who is well-known for her affiliation with the band BLACKPINK. The song 'Like Jennie' will be out this Friday, while its nine-second teaser was dropped on social media on Tuesday.
BLACKPINK Jennie's fans praised the teaser, but listeners who are from the Indian community were intrigued because it sounded a lot like the theme from Karan Johar's 2023 hit Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which featured Alia Bhatt's character Rani.
BLACKPINK's Jennie Accused of Copying Alia Bhatt's Song
Pritam Chakraborty's involvement in plagiarism controversy is undoubtedly turning the tables with internet users claiming that he is the victim because Jennie Kim was accused of stealing the title song from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. For the unversed, the Indian music composer and musician has previously faced numerous charges of plagiarism, wrote the soundtrack for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
The short teaser for Jennie's song combines thundering drums and Jennie-chanting vocals. Some fans were aware that the beat and flow were strikingly similar to Rani's theme from Karan Johar's directorial.
A user on X (previously Twitter) shared the intro of both the tracks and several minds were blown. The tweet read, "#BLACKPINK's Jennie copied the song 'Rani Anthem' from the movie 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani', which has Indian artist Pritam's credits, in a way that sounds no different."

Wonder why someone would steal from a country that watches so many movies and every 6/7th human in the world is from there 😋 Easiest to get caught.

I cannot believe Jennie is plagiarising Pritam, out of all. Bollywood out of all. https://t.co/C7rR0bNKgG

Many sided with Jennie on more technical ground, pointing out that the repetition of the word 'Jennie' instead of 'Rani,' musically was the only similarity between the two. BLACKPINK Jennie's track does sound similar, with the same thundering beats and rhythmic tone in both tracks, even while the rapper and her team have not addresed these allegations yet.
Meanwhile, Jennie Kim is an artist with several facets. She is an actress, rapper, and singer. 'Solo' was her debut song, which was released in South Korea in November 2014. The songs You & Me, One of the Girls, Spot, and Mantra are some of her other well-known singles.
Alia Bhatt, on the other hand was last seen in the Netflix movie Jigra, alongside Vedang Raina. She is currently gearing up for two big projects. One is Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love and War alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, while the other is YRF's Alpha.
