BLACKPINK Jisoo is all set to captivate audiences in a thrilling new zombie Kdrama titled Newtopia (previously titled Influenza). The announcement by Coupang Play has left fans eagerly anticipating her role alongside Park Jeong Min, renowned for his performances in Hellbound and Smugglers. The news, confirmed by Coupang Play on August 1, unveiled the star-studded cast for the 2025 series. New stills from the show reveal Jisoo and Jeong Min in striking new looks, heightening the anticipation for this gripping drama.
Newtopia, previously known as Influenza, is penned by Oscar-winning writer Han Jin-won, famous for his work on Parasite, and co-written by Ji Ho-jin, who has previously impressed with Shopping Mall. The series is directed by Yoon Sung Hyun, known for his critically acclaimed films Bleak Night and Time to Hunt. This marks his first venture into television.
The plot of Newtopia centres around a viral outbreak that transforms infected individuals into zombies, creating terrifying chaos in downtown Seoul. Jisoo and Jung Min portray lovers desperately searching for each other amidst this turmoil. Jisoo plays Kang Young Joo, a former engineering college belle who eagerly awaits her boyfriend's military discharge. Jeong Min's character, Lee Jae Yoon, is an older soldier anxious about his future.

When is Jisoo's Newtopia Releasing?
