Popular K-Pop group BLACKPINK is in the news for renewing their contract with the popular South Korean agency YG Entertainment. BLACKPINK consists of four members i.e. Jennie, Rosé, Lisa, and Jisoo. Rosé is the Australian member of the group and marked her debut in 2016 with the song ‘BOOMBAYAH.’ Since then the group became extensively popular across the globe and is marking the top positions on various music streaming platforms with millions of subscribers.
The group is in talks about changing their agency and are in the motion of renewing their contracts. According to a report in Pinkvilla, as Lisa, Jisoo, and Jennie have decided to move on from YG Entertainment, Rosé has decided to stay back with her current agency. The report also stated that the company is in terms of negotiating with the members and will promote the group for six months in a year. However, with more such reports, fans are intrigued about the whole situation, and are anxious about their future.

Thus, on September 21, YG Entertainment gave an official statement regarding the matter. The agency denied the rumours of members leaving and re-signing, and announced that the situation and negotiations are still under process. Earlier, reports about Lisa likely to drop out of YG Entertainment surfaced online, and that the idol has been offered millions of dollars by several international agencies.

BLACKPINK is an integral part of the YG family. One of the strongest entertainment agencies in South Korea, with the renewing contract reports, the stocks of the firm fell by 9% which clearly indicates the power of the members of BLACKPINK.
The group recently finished their world tour ‘BORN PINK’ on September 17 and made their last comeback a year ago with the full album release of the same name. On the other hand, Rosé made her solo debut under the label with her album R in March 2021.
