The 2024 MAMA Awards are set to be a star-studded affair, with BLACKPINK’s Rose and global icon Bruno Mars confirmed to take the stage. Adding to the excitement, Lisa, another BLACKPINK member, has officially announced her debut solo album, Alter Ego.

The MAMA Awards, one of Kpop's most prestigious year-end events, will take place across three days, from November 21 to November 23. The festivities will kick off at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and then move to the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan. Hosted by Korean actors Park Bo Gum and Kim Tae Ri, the awards promise electrifying performances from several renowned artists, including Rose and Bruno Mars.

Fans are eagerly anticipating Rose and Bruno Mars’ live rendition of their chart-topping track, APT, during the Japan leg of the MAMA Awards. Released on October 18, the collaboration has become a global sensation, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 and securing No. 2 spots on both the US Billboard Hot 100 and the British Official Singles Chart Top 100.

APT is a viral hit and a pre-release track from Rose’s upcoming solo album, Rosie. Inspired by a beloved Korean drinking game, the song's success has solidified her position as a global star. This live performance will mark the duo's first on-stage collaboration, making it one of the most anticipated moments of the event.

Meanwhile, Lisa is making waves by announcing her debut solo album, Alter Ego, set for release on February 28, 2025. The album’s striking cover art features Lisa with hooded eyes, spiky black nails, and a confident gaze, hinting at her bold artistic direction.

According to Lisa, Alter Ego represents five unique personalities, symbolized by a star emblem with five points. These personas are reflected in the album's teaser trailer, where Lisa transitions through dynamic landscapes, from a cyberpunk runway to a volcanic red track.

The album follows a string of successful singles Lisa released earlier this year, including Rockstar, New Woman (featuring Rosalía), and Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me). In a recent interview, Lisa expressed her dedication to perfecting the album, emphasizing how she aims to surprise fans with her versatility.

With Rose and Lisa forging their solo paths and BLACKPINK's reunion planned for 2025, the group remains a powerhouse in the global music scene. Lisa has been vocal about the unwavering support she receives from her bandmates, highlighting their camaraderie as a driving force behind their individual and collective successes. Jennie has also released her solo single Mantra on October 11, 2024, and is expected to announce the release of her debut solo album. Jisoo remains busy with her acting projects which involve Newtopia, Monthly Boyfriend and the movie The Prophet: Omniscient Reader.
