Dhanush, the acclaimed actor known for his versatile performances, is all set to portray the legendary music maestro Ilaiyaraaja in an upcoming biopic. The news was confirmed by Dhanush himself, who shared the announcement along with the first poster of the film on social media. The poster was unveiled at a special event in Chennai, attended by industry stalwarts like Kamal Haasan, Vetri Maaran, Gangai Amaren, and Bharathiraja.

Titled 'Ilaiyaraaja', the biopic will be directed by Arun Matheswaran, with cinematography by Nirav Shah. Adding to the authenticity of the project, Ilaiyaraaja himself will be scoring the music for the film. The poster features a young Dhanush, exuding determination and readiness to delve into the world of music.

Expressing his gratitude and excitement about the project, Dhanush stated, "I’m a fan and a devotee of Ilaiyaraaja. His music is my companion and it suits everyone. More than that, his music is my acting teacher." He further elaborated on how Ilaiyaraaja's music has influenced his acting, often listening to his compositions before performing a scene.

Regarding the portrayal of such an iconic figure, Dhanush expressed confidence, saying, "Many say that it’s a huge challenge and responsibility. But, I don’t think so. I know his music will guide me. He’s been there with me and will always be there with me."
