BTS member V is currently serving in the military along with the other members of his Kpop group. Kim Taehyung along with RM, Jungkook and Jimin enlisted in the military in December 2023 and will soon begin performing their duties at the training camp. As per reports, V will serve as a Special Duty Team Officer in the Capital Defence Command army. For the unversed, he was among the only six elite graduate trainees recognized for their expectational performance at the graduation ceremony.

The details about V's deployment and his assigned station have surfaced on the internet and this has made his fans emotional. He will finish his three-week additional training at the Army General Administration School on February 8, 2024.

According to reports, the 'Dynamite' singer will serve at the 2nd Army Corps of Chuncheon, Gangwon Province.

V earlier a heartfelt note for his fans and expressed his love and admiration for his fans ahead of starting his military service. He wrote on Weverse, "I think I'm going to miss you so much. To be honest, it's a real shame that I can't have any more happy memories with ARMYs for some time, if it wasn't for that one thing it would be okay, but not being able to see ARMYs is the hardest. For a long time that is 18 months, I will become really healthy and come back so ARMYs, please take care of your health too. and if day by day you find things to be happy about, I'll appear once again like 'tada! I'm here!'. and also I have prepared various things for during those 18 months so please look forward to it."

He earlier assured his fans about his decision to enlist in the Special Duty Team, an anti-terrorism unit directly under the supervision of the Blue House and said that he wanted to challenge himself. Addressing the concern of his fans, V said, "There were articles coming out about the unit I will be enlisting. ARMYs were worried, but honestly, I just wanted to challenge myself by going there and because I have goals. So please do not worry too much. I am challenging myself, but I also know how to deflect when needed. I shall return healthy and not get hurt. I’m a little bit scared of rappels, but… just please trust me."

V will return from the military in 2025 and will reunite with the other BTS members in the same year.
