BTS V and RM  have achieved yet another milestone, becoming the only Asian artists to be featured in the prestigious 2024 Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Honor Roll. This recognition highlights their impact on the global music scene, marking an important moment for both artists and Kpop fans around the world.

On September 8, Billboard took to social media to announce the 2024 R&B/Hip-Hop Honor Roll. The list honours artists who have made significant contributions to these genres between August 1, 2023, and July 31, 2024. The news quickly went viral, with K-pop fans excited to see RM and V as the only Asian artists on this year’s list.

V's inclusion in the honour roll comes as no surprise, thanks to the huge success of his debut solo album LAYOVER, released on September 8. The album achieved record-breaking first-week sales, with 2.1 million copies sold, according to Hanteo Chart. It also debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, placing V alongside fellow BTS members Jimin and SUGA as the highest-charting Korean solo artists in Billboard history.

One of the standout tracks from LAYOVER is Slow Dancing, which has further showcased V's vocal prowess and unique style. The album's impressive performance on the charts solidifies V's status as a powerful solo artist in the global music industry. RM has also been making waves with his second studio album Right Place, Wrong Person, which dropped on May 24. This album, his first major release post-military enlistment, debuted at number five on the Billboard 200, marking his highest debut yet with 54,000 album-equivalent units sold. Singles like Come Back to Me and LOST! have been met with critical acclaim, reinforcing RM's position as a leader in the industry.

In addition, RM's journey through this album’s creation is documented in the upcoming film RM: Right People, Wrong Place, directed by Lee Seok Jun. The film will premiere at the 29th Busan International Film Festival in October before its global release, giving fans a deeper look into RM's life and artistic process. The inclusion of RM and V in the 2024 Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Honor Roll is a major achievement, not just for them, but for the growing recognition of Asian artists in the global music industry.
