Chhaava: Vicky Kaushal is all set to enthrall audiences with his performance as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in the highly anticipated historical drama Chhaava. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film is slated to hit theatres on February 14. The film, which also stars Akshaye Khanna as the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai, will showcase an intense face-off between Vicky and Akshaye. However, did you know that the actors never interacted on set before filming their scenes? The Bad Newz actor opened up about his interaction with Akshaye on the sets.

Vicky Kaushal shared his experience of working with Akshaye Khanna, who plays Aurangzeb in Chhaava. He told Bollywood Hungama, “It took Aurangzeb nine years to find and get hold of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. So, a lot of the film shows his quest to find him. There are some moments together (between Vicky and Akshaye), but the film is about them striving to meet each other, and that will leave you waiting for that face-off to happen. The muted sliminess and cunningness that Akshaye has brought into the character of Aurangzeb has blended beautifully with the roar of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.”

Laxman Utekar revealed that Vicky and Akshaye never met in person before filming their intense face-off scene. He stated, “The day their scene together was to be shot was the day they met each other for the first time and that too as characters.” Additing to it, Vicky said, that they did not interact personally before the shoot. “When we were shooting that scene, we exchanged no good mornings or goodbyes or hellos. He was Aurangzeb and I was Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, and we went straight into shooting the scene. There was no communication as Vicky Kaushal to Akshaye Khanna."

Explaining further, Vicky shared how the intensity of their scenes called for no casual interactions. "Considering the way the scenes were, you can’t do them by sitting on chairs next to each other, sipping tea, and then going for the shoot when ready. So, it didn’t happen organically either. I hope I get to chat with him after the movie’s release, but during the shoot, we never interacted with each other," the Sam Bahadur actor shared.

Revealing more details about Vicky and Akshaye's no-interaction approach, the film's director said, "Both of them were so immersed in their characters, they didn’t even want to see each other’s faces.”

The period drama Chhaava is set to bring the inspiring life journey of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj to the screen on February 14. Headlined by Vicky Kaushal, the film also stars Ashutosh Rana and Divya Dutta in key roles. Recently, the makers excited fans with a depiction of the intense war between Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Mughal ruler Aurangzeb. Movie buffs are eagerly waiting to witness the much-talked-about face-off between Vicky Kaushal and Akshaye Khanna.
