Actor Cillian Murphy is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming biopic, 'Oppenheimer'. The film is based on the 2005 biography American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin about J. Robert Oppenheimer, a theoretical physicist who helped develop the first nuclear weapons on the Manhattan Project. The movie also highlights the race against time that the Americans faced to complete their bomb before Nazi Germany could finish building theirs.
American nuclear physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who is often credited as the father of atomic bomb, for his role in the Manhattan Project, learned Sanskrit at Barkley. Oppenheimer’s most repeated quote read, “I have become death, the destroyer of worlds” and it was borrowed from Bhagavad Geeta, the foundation text of Hinduism.
Opening up about the same, Cillian Murphy said: “I did read the Bhagavad Gita in preparation for the film. I thought it was an absolutely beautiful text. Very inspiring. It was a consolation to him. He kind of needed it. It provided a lot of consolation to him all his life.”
'Oppenheimer' Age-Gap Controversy
Compared to Cillian Murphy, who is 47 years old, Florence Pugh is 20 years younger. Fans have criticized this as a "miscast," asking why there should be two times as much age gap between the two characters and feeling awkward about the age difference. The promise of a "prolonged full nudity" moment between Murphy and Pugh is unlikely to improve the issue.
