Crime Docu-series On OTT: Platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Zee5 and more are consistently delivering an array of new and diverse content, spanning movies, TV series, and documentaries, offering viewers a broad spectrum of choices. Among the notable releases on these platforms are popular docu-series like House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths, Indian Predator: Beast of Bangalore To The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth. House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths (Netflix)

The docuseries which released by Netflix in 2021, delves into the mysteries surrounding the tragic demise of 11 members of a single family on June 30, 2018, famously known as the Burari deaths. Directed by Leena Yadav and Anubhav Chopra, the series features a score composed and produced by A R Rahman and his ensemble of musicians from Qutub-E-Kripa. The dialogues are crafted by Tyson Newton Fernandez.

Indian Predator: Beast of Bangalore (Netflix)

A true crime docuseries directed by Ashwin Rai Shetty and produced by Vice Studios, premiered on December 16, 2022. It marks the third installment of the Indian Predator series. The series delves into the disturbing crimes committed by Umesh Reddy during the 1990s in Karnataka, India. Shockingly, Umesh, a former police officer, confessed to raping and murdering 18 women, with nine cases resulting in guilty verdicts. In 2009, the Karnataka High Court sentenced Umesh to death for his crimes, a ruling upheld by the Supreme Court in 2011. However, in 2022, his death sentence was commuted to a 30-year prison term following the consideration of a mercy petition.

The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth (Netflix)

The Netflix series delve into the layers surrounding the high-profile murder case of Sheena Bora and the subsequent 2015 arrest of her alleged mother, Indrani Mukerjea. Previously married to media mogul Peter Mukerjea, Indrani's involvement in the case has garnered widespread attention.

The Hunt for Veerappan (Netflix)

Crime docuseries released in 2023 on Netflix is directed by Selvamani Selvaraj and produced by Apoorva Bakshi and Monisha Thyagarajan, this four-part series delves into the untold and lesser-known narratives surrounding the infamous Indian bandit turned domestic terrorist, Veerappan.

Crime Stories: India Detectives (Netflix)

The docuseries created and directed by N Amit and Jack Rampling, features N Shashi Kumar, Roopa KS, and Gopala Nayak. Consisting of four episodes, this docu-series chronicles the efforts of the Bengaluru city police as they strive to solve four violent crimes, three of which involve murder and one centers around the kidnapping of a child. The series depicts the investigative endeavors of four police stations as they successfully crack three murder cases and one kidnapping case that occurred before the onset of the pandemic in early 2020.

Delhi Riots: A Tale Of Burn and Blame (Voot)

A documentary covering the violence that occurred in North East Delhi in February of the previous year was released. Indian filmmaker Kamlesh K Mishra, explained that he was inspired to create a documentary on such a sensitive issue because he believed it was important to depict the grief experienced by those who lost their loved ones.

The Talwars: Behind Closed Doors (Hotstar)

The four-part original crime documentary series delves into the perplexing case of a double murder involving a teenage girl and her family's household servant in Noida, India. With exclusive interviews from Aarushi's parents, the series unveils the intricate details of a case that has stirred debate and disagreement among India's law enforcement, media, judiciary, and society as a whole.
