Deepika Padukone has opened up about her role as a mother in Nag Ashwin’s highly-anticipated film Kalki 2898 AD. Ever since its announcement, the film has generated tremendous excitement among audiences, with fans eagerly anticipating its release on the big screen. Starring Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles, the film is nearing its release date. The trio recently gathered in Mumbai for the pre-release event, showcasing their close bond as they laughed and enjoyed their time together.

Deepika looked stunning in a black bodycon dress, while Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan sported dapper casual attire, adding to the event's charm. In Kalki 2898 AD, she once again embraces the role of a mother after Brahmastra and Jawan, adding another noteworthy character to her impressive filmography.

At the event, actor Rana Daggubati playfully teased Deepika Padukone about her pregnancy, pointing out her baby bump and remarking that she is still in character. Deepika responded with a laugh, saying, "Yeah, I worked on it for three years, so I thought why not carry the baby bump for a few more months."

About Kalki 2898 AD

Set in the year 2898 AD in the city of Kasi, Kalki 2898 AD intertwines mythology and science fiction. The story revolves around the god-king Supreme Yaskin and centers on Kalki, the tenth and final avatar of Lord Vishnu. The film is an Indian epic dystopian science fiction action film written and directed by Nag Ashwin. Produced by C. Aswani Dutt under Vyjayanthi Movies, the film is inspired by Hindu scriptures. The narrative features Prabhas in the lead role, supported by an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani, and Brahmanandam.

Filming began in July 2021 on a futuristic set at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, and continued sporadically over the next three years, concluding in March 2024. With a production budget of Rs 600 crore, Kalki ranks among the most expensive Indian films. Kalki 2898 AD's music is composed by Santhosh Narayanan, with cinematography by Djordje Stojiljkovic, it is set for a worldwide theatrical release on 27 June 2024.
