Actress Deepika Padukone is embracing motherhood as she welcomed her daughter Dua last year with husband Ranveer Singh. She is often seen talking about this new phase in her life and her plans to return to work. Recently, Deepika made a shocking revelation about a director's remark, questioning her motherhood priorities.

Deepika Padukone Recalls Director's Remark

In a recent conversation with Marie Claire, Deepika talked about a time when she had to cancel a meeting with a director because she had to stay home with Dua. Her decision was not well received by the director, who commented by saying, "He turned around and said, oh, looks like she's taking motherhood very seriously." To this, Deepika was left confused and stated, "I don't know if that was a compliment or a jab. What does that mean, taking motherhood seriously? Yeah, of course I am!”

Jawan star also shared how life changed after having a baby. In the same interview, she added, "I don’t know if [work] will be what it used to be before I had a baby, and I don’t even know if I want to be that way…is [this] my new routine and schedule?"

She also spoke about mom guilt and how she reminds herself that she needs to get back to work. “I do have to tell myself that your life doesn’t end the minute you have a child, and that you do need to get back to your life, or at least a part of your life before you had a baby…but every moment where I’m not able to be with her, there is guilt," Deepika said.

Emphasing on it, she stated, “I wouldn’t say I’m lost, but I wouldn’t say I’ve found [my new identity] either. I feel like I’m navigating it."

Deepika and Ranveer tied the knot in an intimate wedding in Italy in 2018. In 2024, DeepVeer welcomed their baby girl, whom they named Dua, in September 2024. In November, Deepika and Ranveer introduced their daughter to the world by revealing her name and the meaning behind it.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Deepika's latest venture was Rohit Shetty's Singham Again. She will reportedly be seen playing the lead role in Shah Rukh Khan starrer King, which is being directed by Siddharth Anand.
