Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh took over two months to decide the name Dua for their daughter. They unveiled the name of their baby girl in November 2024, even though they became parents to her in September. The well-known actress had a lot of problems through the last trimester of her pregnancy.

Deepika Padukone spoke to Marie Claire about her pregnancy and her experiences as a new mother. The actress claimed that even though Dua was born in September 2024, it felt like yesterday. "I went through a lot in the eight, nine months of being pregnant and delivery," she said, disclosing that her pregnancy was difficult.

Deepika Padukone shared that they wanted to take their time naming their daughter. She revealed, "I think what was more important for us was to first hold the baby in our arms, allow her to sort of see this new world she's come into, allow her personality to start developing a little bit."

The Jawan actress claimed that she focused on the Arabic word for prayer, dua, which she found in poetry and music. "It felt like a beautiful summary of what she means to us and why she means what she means to us," she added. 

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh welcomed their daughter on September 8, 2024. The couple, who got married in 2018, shared glimpse of their daughter, Dua Padukone Singh, during Diwali last year.

Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone is currently taking time off from her work to spend time with her daughter, Dua. The actress will reportedly begin working with Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan on the follow-up to filmmaker Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD, soon.

Deepika Padukone has joined Shah Rukh Khan and his daughter Suhana Khan's King cast. However, an official confirmation regarding the same is awaited.
