Dhurandhar Casting Director Justifies Ranveer Singh, Sara Arjun's 20-Year Age Gap

Dhurandhar: Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, and R Madhavan play important parts in Aditya Dhar's film Dhurandhar. Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, and R Madhavan play important roles in this Aditya Dhar-directed movie. But even before it was released, the spy thriller was criticised, especially for pairing Sara Arjun and Ranveer Singh on screen despite their 20-year age difference. The conversations intensified following the first look of Dhurandhar. While some viewers questioned the creative choice, others defended the makers.

Dhurandhar casting director Mukesh Chhabra have now responded to the uproar and explained why the age difference was a conscious decision as the movie continues to enjoy its box office run. Speaking to Free Press Journal, he revealed that the casting was directly related to the story of the movie.

Dhurandhar casting director said, "I am very happy that a lot of directors, including Aditya, are now giving more chances to newcomers. So, my idea was that we are creating the whole world. So, we are doing surprise casting, and this girl should look completely fresh. Even though she has been a child actor and has done a couple of films as a child actor, we wanted to give a fresh approach."

The well-known casting director in the industry explained that the 20-year age difference between Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun was a purposeful decision determined by the plot of the movie. He added, "So, I have been working with Sara for many years, and she has been coming for auditions. She is really a lovely girl. When she gave the audition, I saw the hidden talent behind her sweet face. She is such an amazing actor, you will see that in part 2. You will be surprised."

"No, I had got a very clear brief. The story is that he (Ranveer) is trying to trap her (Sara). So, we knew that we wanted a young girl who is 20-21 years old. And when part 2 comes, whoever is talking about the age gap will get all the answers," he explained.

Additionally, he noted that while there were plenty of gifted performers in the 26–27 age range, using an older actor would have lessened the impact of the narrative. Mukesh Chhabra said that he found many of the social media responses entertaining in response to the internet outcry.

Mukesh Chhabra went on to say that not all creative decisions can be explained right away, and some things are supposed to get clear over time. He restated that the casting was in perfect harmony with both the wider arc that was planned for the entire franchise and the brief that was given to him.
