Sunny Deol announced the sequel of his cult movie Border earlier this year. There were several reports that suggested that Ayushmann Khurrana has been approached for a pivotal role in Border 2. The latest report suggests that the actor was unsure of his positioning in an ensemble led by Sunny Deol due to which he let go of this project. On the other hand, makers also approached Diljit Dosanjh but nothing has been confirmed on his part. 

A source told Mid-day, “Ayushmann was in talks to play a soldier in the sequel. While both Ayushmann and the makers were keen on collaborating, the actor felt unsure of his positioning in an ensemble led by Sunny Deol, a towering star in his own right.” 

Speaking about Diljit Dosanjh’s confirmation to part of Border 2, the source added “Nothing is confirmed yet. But Diljit has been approached by the makers. It will be a treat to see Diljit and Sunny together on screen, given their strong audience base in north India.” 

Earlier in June, Sunny Deol announced Border 2 and wrote on his Instagram handle “Ek fauji apne 27 saal purane waade ko pura karne, aa raha hai phirse. India’s biggest war film, #Border2 🇮🇳 Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta & Nidhi Dutta will be directed by Anurag Singh.”

Border was a 1997 war film directed by renowned filmmaker JP Dutta. The movie starred Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Pooja Bhatt, Sharbani Mukherjee and Sudesh Berry in pivotal roles. The cult movie is streaming on Prime Video and also can be watched for free on YouTube.
