Ranbir Kapoor has once again found himself in the middle of a controversy after a new video appeared to challenge earlier claims that he had stopped eating non-vegetarian food and drinking alcohol while preparing for his role as Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming epic, Ramayana. Previous reports suggested that Ranbir had taken on a sattvic lifestyle as a personal choice for the film. He had reportedly quit smoking, adopted meditation, switched to early-morning fitness routines and followed a strict vegetarian diet to better portray the spiritual nature and calm strength associated with Lord Ram.
However, a recently released video has cast doubt on these claims. The clip comes from Dining With The Kapoors, a special programme created to mark the 100th birth anniversary of legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor. In the footage, Armaan Jain is seen serving dishes such as Fish Curry Rice and Junglee Mutton to the Kapoor family. Ranbir is shown sitting at the same table with Neetu Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Rima Jain and other family members.

Social Media Reactions
The video went viral within hours, sparking discussion and criticism online. Many social media users accused Ranbir’s PR team of creating a misleading narrative about his lifestyle decisions. One widely shared post stated, “Ranbir Kapoor’s PR team said he gave up non-veg food to respect his role as Lord Ram, but now he’s eating fish curry and mutton with his family. His PR is the strongest in Bollywood.” Another user questioned why such bold statements were made without proper thought, writing, “Bollywood PR teams need to stop. Especially Ranbir and Alia’s PR. No one asked them to claim he quit non-veg and alcohol. If they had stayed quiet, they wouldn’t be dealing with this backlash.”

On the other hand, the controversy has added to the list of discussions surrounding the Ramayana film. While some viewers criticised the PR strategy, others pointed out that an actor’s diet is not as important as the performance. One Reddit user commented, “No one cares what he eats. He just needs to act well. But when your PR team lies to create hype and then gets caught, it’s a problem. It creates mistrust.” Another wrote, “Why do PR teams create these unnecessary gimmicks? It only backfires when old videos resurface.”
