Aamir Khan Production house, a key producer of Kiran Rao's acclaimed film Laapataa Ladies, shared a humourous Instagram post amidst the ongoing adoration for the movie since its release on Netflix. Nitanshi Goel, the 17-year-old actor who recently debuted as Phool in Kiran Rao's Laapataa Ladies, also marked her Met Gala debut, but how? The post shared on Instagram, features a photoshopped image of Phool, portrayed by Nitanshi in the film, standing on the iconic staircase of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in Manhattan, New York, where the annual Met Gala fundraising event is held.

The caption reads, "Our Phool blossoming in the garden of time." Nitanshi's character adorned a classic red sari complemented by a maroon shawl elegantly draped over her shoulders, topped with a matching bindi adorning her forehead. Sporting a humble smile, she gracefully held her sari with one hand while clutching the shawl with the other. The caption of the post read, "Our Phool blossoming in the garden of time, Watch #LaapataaLadies on @NetflixIndia now."

Reacting to the promotional stunt, a user wrote, "I finally watched it, I laughed, got teary eyed. It was worth it." Another added, "When content and cast speak louder than anything. Loved watching the film." Demanding Oscar for the film, a user commented, "Movies like Lapata Ladies gives me hope for the Bollywood movie Industry. I have been hindi movie buff since the late 80s and one thing I should say that after the pandemic content wasn’t the king in Bollywood but the noise was. But movies like Lapata ladies gives Bollywood fan like me hope that yes Content is the King. All the actors were just superb. This movie should go to the Oscar for sure."

About Nitanshi

Nitanshi portrayed Phool, a young bride who becomes lost, in the film. She shared with ANI her process of preparing for this role. "I watched Sui Dhaaga, Balika Badhu and a lot of Bhojpuri women's videos to see how the women are there because this is the story of 2001 and I am born in 2007. So I had never seen that era and now, I wanted to live this era in the audition itself. I wanted that by looking at my body language, people should feel that I am telling the story of those women. So I practised their body language and practiced how to wear a veil. I wanted a sari costume. I didn't have a sari, so I made her a ready-made sari with a lehenga dupatta. Phool doesn't say much in the film, but you can tell from her eyes what she wants to say.”

Under the direction of Kiran Rao, Laapataa Ladies also features Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Ravi Kishan, and Chhaya Kadam. The film delivers a powerful message, challenging the patriarchal constraints that confine women to domestic roles, hindering their pursuit of dreams and aspirations.
