Actor Darshan and his partner Pavithra Gowda were apprehended by Bengaluru police on June 11 in relation to an alleged murder case involving Renuka Swamy. Amid this, actress-turned-politician Divya Spandana, also known as Ramya, has commented that 'no one is above the law'. Kannada actor and his alleged accomplice Pavithra, along with 12 other suspects, are currently in police custody until June 17. They were arrested on June 11.
The murder concerning 33-year-old Renukaswamy, a fan of the 'Kurukshetra' star shocked everyone. Reacting to this, Ramya wrote, "There’s a block option given on social media for a reason. If the trolling persists, you file a complaint. The trolls have trolled me incessantly using filthy language. Not just me, they’ve trolled other actors too. They haven’t spared their wives and children either. What a sad society we live in. I have filed cases like any law abiding citizen should. Sometimes post a warning from the police to the trolls l’ve taken back the case too on compassionate grounds."
"I’ve also considered the fact that these people are young and have a future ahead and they’re ruining/ wasting their lives by trolling using anonymous handles. No one is above the law. No one should take law in to their hands. You don’t go around beating up people and killing them. A simple complaint would suffice whether you believe justice will be served or not," she added.
In her post, Divya also commended the efforts of Karnataka police officers, expressing appreciation and respect for their dedicated service. She acknowledged the challenges of their thankless job and emphasized their commitment to upholding law and justice. "A word of appreciation and respect for the police officers discharging their duties. It’s a thankless job. And they’re doing their best. I truly hope they don’t succumb to pressure from political parties and reinstate the faith of the people in law and justice #JusticeforRenukaswamy."
Renuka Swamy Murder Case
Darshan and Pavithra were apprehended in connection with the murder of Renuka Swamy, whose body was discovered at Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru on June 8, 2024. They are currently in police custody in Bengaluru for six days, during which their cell phones have been confiscated. Renuka was reportedly employed at an Apollo Pharmacy branch in Chitradurga. The police allege that Darshan had sent inappropriate messages to Pavithra. However, Swamy's wife has refuted these allegations, asserting that her husband had called her in the afternoon of June 8. She questions the necessity of resorting to violence if her husband had indeed sent objectionable messages on social media, emphasizing her demand for justice regardless of the accused's status.
