Actor Darshan and his partner Pavithra Gowda were arrested by Bengaluru police on June 11 in connection with an alleged murder case. He faces charges related to the murder of Renuka Swamy. They are expected to remain in custody until June 17. Amid this, his Kannada film Devil's production was halted with significant parts still left to shoot.

The news has shocked the producer and director of the film 'Devil - The Hero,' who had already paid Darshan a substantial amount for his role.

During the initial shooting schedule, Darshan encountered an unfortunate left-hand injury while filming an action scene, leading to a temporary production halt. Following surgery for his injury, the filming delay was further prolonged. Just two days into the second phase of shooting, Darshan's sudden arrest on murder charges came as a shock to both the director, Prakash Veer, and the film's producers. The actor was expected to be on set the previous day, but his arrest prevented his presence.

Director Prakash Veer had initially planned to release the film on December 25 of this year. However, due to Darshan's unavailability, production is currently suspended. Reports indicate filming will not resume until the star actor is released from police custody. Darshan was in Mysuru for the shoot when the police detained him. The situation has left the film crew and industry watchers uncertain about the future course of action.

Renuka Swamy Murder Case

Darshan and Pavithra were arrested in connection with the murder of Renuka Swamy, whose body was found at Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru on June 8, 2024. Their cell phones have been seized, and they are currently in 6-day police custody in Bengaluru. Renuka was reportedly employed at an Apollo Pharmacy branch in Chitradurga.

The police allege that he had sent inappropriate messages to Pavithra. However, Swamy's wife has denied these allegations, stating that her husband called her on June 8 afternoon. She questions the need for violence if her husband had indeed sent objectionable messages on social media, emphasising her demand for justice regardless of the status of the accused.
