Emraan Hashmi, who became well-known after acting in movies like Murder, Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Jannat and Gangster, may have been away from the spotlight for a while. The actor's fans, who've long cherished his screen presence, find themselves constantly reminiscing about him.
Emraan Hashmi's movies were mostly backed by the Bhatt Production, which lacked diversity and did not allow the audience to appreciate the actor's range. With movies and series like Shanghai, Ghanchakkar, Bard of Blood, and a few others, he showcased his acting ability.
Emraan Hashmi led the recently released Ground Zero, directed by Tejas Deoskar. The filmmaker revealed if Emranis, in fact, an underrated actor in the industry during an exclusive conversation with Jagran English.
Tejas Deoskar responded positively when asked if Emraan Hashmi is an underappreciated actor. "Underrated in a good way. Yes, probably because his performances in previous movies were fabulous, even though he was performing, or rather playing a typical type of hero in a lot of films, but he has also done movies like Shanghai and Bard of Blood, where his acting prowess is proven (sic)," he said.

Tejas Deoskar emphasised how good Emraan Hashmi is as an actor. He used to get similar offers because of his success, but now that he's doing so well, he's willing to try new things. The filmmaker added, "Beyond any doubt, so I think it's only time now that he also has to choose subjects, and I think the subjects are also coming his way because sometimes what happens when you see success through a particular type, people try to, and you know they tend to approach you with the same. So he's also, probably, you know, going with the flow in his heyday. So maybe this is the time that he can also experiment. He also is open for experiments, and he's doing very nicely. He's performing so well. He is a good actor. There is no doubt about it (sic)."
Meanwhile, Ground Zero, which is based on real-life events, also features Sai Tamhankar and Zoya Hussain in pivotal roles. The story revolves around Emraan Hashmi's character, BSF officer Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey, who bravely led the 2003 operation that killed terrorist Ghazi Baba and was awarded the Kirti Chakra.
