With over 9 million viewers (gasps), it's no wonder House of the Dragon shattered the internet, generated constant talk on social media, thereby scripting history. Now, here is a piece of good news for all the fans of House of the Dragon. Production has already begun on the Season 2 of the most-anticipated series.

According to a report in Deadline, the HBO show is being filmed at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden. Meanwhile, the first-look image has been released showing the Iron Throne seated erect in the Great Hall of the Red Keep.

Ryan Condal, co-creator, Co-creator, showrunner and executive producer of the show, said, "House of the Dragon has returned. We are thrilled to be shooting again with members of our original family as well as new talents on both sides of the camera. All your favourite characters will soon be conspiring at the council tables, marching with their armies, and riding their dragons into battle."

Cast for season 2 includes Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, and Rhys Ifans. Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, and Matthew Needha are the additional returning cast members.

It is pertinent to note that the release date for the second installment has not been announced yet, but the show is slated to release in 2024.

Naturally, if you watched Game of Thrones, you'll remember Daenerys Targaryen, the Mother of Dragons, and her fight to reclaim the Iron Throne. The long-gestating intention by HBO to extend the world of Game of Thrones beyond the main series has finally borne fruit with House of the Dragon.

House of the Dragon takes place during that time period, taking us back nearly 200 years to the heyday of House Targaryen in Westerosi history. It is about the Dance of the Dragons, a Targaryen civil war that pitted brother against brother, uncle-husband against brother-husband, and dragon against dragon.
