Friday South Releases: This week offers a diverse range of entertainment right at home, catering to different tastes with options including mystery thrillers and exciting adventures in multiple languages. As we enter the second week of May, there's an extensive lineup of movies slated to release in theaters, with a particular focus on films from the South Indian cinema. Highly anticipated films like 'Marivillin Gopurangal', 'Rasavathi' To 'Star', among others, are poised to hit big screens.
Star (Tamil)
The romantic drama film helmed and scripted by Elan, hit theaters on May 10, 2024. Kavin takes the lead role, supported by Lal, Aaditi Pohankar, Preity Mukhundhan, and Geetha Kailasam. The narrative centers on Kalai, a young man pursuing his aspiration of becoming an actor amidst various obstacles. Produced under the banners of Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra and Rise East Entertainment, it's a collaborative effort between B. V. S. N. Prasad and Sreenidhi Sagar.
Rasavathi (Tamil)
Featuring Arjun Das and Tanya Ravichandran in the main roles, Rasavathi is directed by Santhakumar. It unfolds a narrative spanning both past and present, with the contemporary storyline set in Kodaikanal. Spanning across locations such as Kodaikanal, Madurai, Cuddalore, and Palani, the film delves into themes of relationships, exploring a spectrum of emotions including love, anger, revenge, and loss. Malayalam actor Sujith Shanker embodies the antagonist. Furthermore, the film features GM Sundar, Sujatha, Ramya Subramaniyan, Reshma Venkatesh, Rishikanth, Arul Jothi, and Deepa in supporting roles.
Marivillin Gopurangal (Malayalam)
The Malayalam film directed by Arun Bose, boast a remarkable cast including Indrajith Sukumaran, Sruthi Ramachandran, Sarjano Khalid, and Vincy Aloshious in significant roles. The film navigates the intricacies of marriage and parenthood, offering a fresh perspective on societal norms. 'Marivillin Gopurangal' pledges to deliver a thought-provoking storyline that presents a captivating examination of the differing perspectives and challenges encountered by couples in contemporary society.
Shermeen Siyad produced the film for Kokers Media Entertainments, with Pramod Mohan serving as the screenwriter and co-director, while Syamaprakash M. S. handled the cinematography. Editing responsibilities were shared between Shaijal P. V. and Arun Bose.
Krishnamma
Krishnamma, the newest mass action drama, showcases the talents of one of Tollywood's finest actors, Satyadev. Written and directed by VV Gopala Krishna, the film premiered on May 10 across the globe, met with moderate anticipation. Three orphans raised alongside the banks of the river Krishna forge an inseparable connection, becoming each other's family. However, their lives take a sudden and drastic turn due to a horrifying incident.
Aarambham
Penned and directed by Ajay Nag V, the film hit theaters. With modest expectations, the movie debuted to a subdued reception. Mohan Bhagath, known for 'C/o Kancherapalem', and Supritha Sathyaranayan starred in the lead roles of this suspenseful thriller. Upon the escape of a prisoner identified by badge number 299 from the heavily fortified Kalaghati jail without a trace, two detectives are called in with police assistance. Upon delving into the crime, they uncover startling revelations.
