The movie revolves around Saravanavelu Velu, who is an aspiring Kabbadi player and goes to Madurai to participate in a match. His life takes a turn when he meets Dhanalakshmi and rescues her from Muthupandi, who forces her to be with him.
Vijay and Trisha were last seen together in 'Leo', which also became a blockbuster. Talking about casting Trisha and Vijay together in the film, director Lokesh Kanagaraj told the media, “Trisha was my first choice for 'Leo'. Because I wanted someone who looks like a real family with Thalapathy Vijay. They are a couple in their 40s and have two children in the movie. Their chemistry comes across as most natural on-screen. I needed that to make the movie and the emotions as authentic as possible.”
He added, "I’m usually not a good writer of romance in movies. But I have done a good job this time in Leo concerning romance scenes. Both Vijay and Trisha performed well in romance sequences. Two scenes will stand out for their performance."
'Ghilli' also stars Prakash Raj, Ashish Vidyarthi, Dhamu, Mayilsamy, Janaki Sabesh, Nancy Jennifer, Nagendra Prasad, Ponnambalam, and Pandu.
On the work front, Vijay will next star in 'The Greatest Of All Time', which also stars Prashanth, Prabhu Deva and Meenakshi Chaudhary. Trisha will next star in 'Ram', 'Thug Life' and 'Vishwambhara'.
