Govinda went over a 2008 lawsuit that a man he smacked on the set of his movie had filed against him. The individual tried to bully him out of Rs 3–4 crore revealed the actor. He, additionally, disclosed that he secretively captured a video of the man speaking these demands.
Govinda is still upset that no Bollywood actor stood by him during the court battle, even though the issue was resolved in 2017. For the unversed, the event took place on the set of Govinda's movie Money Hai Toh Honey Hai in 2008. Following a fight, the actor smacked Santosh, who subsequently filed a lawsuit against him for assault and demanded money.
Govinda said, "The slapping case was so lucky for me. Somebody was misbehaving, and I slapped the person. The case went on for 9 years and in the end, a friend of mine told me to do a sting operation on him and record whatever he was saying. The guy asked me for Rs 3-4 crores to take back the case. I recorded that conversation and sent it to court," talking about it on Mukesh Khanna's YouTube channel.
Govinda then said that Santosh misbehaved with some of the women on the shooting team, which is why he slapped him. He added, "His name was Santosh. A lot of women told me not to do anything wrong with him further. They asked me to be respectful. I saw that nobody supported me; those who have been standing because of me were after me, trying to pull me down."

After the Supreme Court requested that Govinda apologise to Santosh, the issue was resolved in 2017. Additionally, the accused retracted his demand for financial damages.
Speaking about professional front, Govinda's performance dropped in the 2010s following a wave of hits in the 1990s and a comeback in the mid-2000s. The actor mostly starred in postponed movies, with the exception of supporting roles in Holiday and Kill Dil. The 2018 movie FryDay and the 2019 movie Rangeela Raja were his final big-screen appearances.
