Gurucharan Singh, well-known for his role in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, made headlines after his safe return home on May 17 following several weeks of absence. Opening up about his disappearance for the first time, the actor revealed that he embarked on a spiritual journey in April this year and initially had no plans to return. However, after the return, Gurucharan reportedly met the show's producer, Asit Modi, at his Mumbai office. While their meeting has sparked speculation about actor's potential return to TMKOC, the actor remained non-committal when questioned, stating, "I don’t know. Let’s see."

Talking about their meeting, Asit Kumarr Modi said, "For me, Sodhi is like my family. He was associated with us for a long period of time. After leaving the show for personal reasons, he used to come to meet me whenever he used to visit Mumbai. I was worried about him for what he did sometime back and out of concern I messaged him. He visited our office today and we had a heart-to-heart conversation today and gave him best wishes for his future."

Gurcharan Singh initially departed in 2013 but returned the following year due to popular demand. After leaving again in 2020, he was replaced by actor Balwinder Singh Suri, leaving his fans without his presence on television screens. In April this year, concerns arose among Singh's fans when he went missing, prompting a search that concluded with his safe return home after 26 days. Upon returning, Singh was questioned by Delhi Police, revealing he had embarked on a religious journey visiting Gurudwaras in Amritsar and Ludhiana. Singh clarified that he left home voluntarily but later realized he should return.

The actor stressed that there is a misconception that he planned his disappearance for publicity, but that's untrue. "Many people think I planned my disappearance for publicity, but that’s not true. If I wanted publicity, I could have given interviews to talk about the pending dues for my work in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. I could have used social media to do that, but I didn’t. Even after coming back home, I didn’t give any interviews, but now I am speaking up because I want to clarify certain things that people are saying about me," the actor added.
